Introduction

I have been Focusing since 2007 and I love to teach and share this beautiful practice with others. I regularly teach groups at Intro, Skills Certificate and Professional level, but if you are interested in exploring Focusing one to one I will also be pleased to hear from you!

What services do I offer?

I am a Person Centred counsellor and Focusing Teacher. I offer guided Focusing sessions and teach Focusing to individuals and groups. I work from Brighton and Burgess Hill and online.

Focusing is a lovely gentle way to develop more of a listening connection with ourselves - space to be more compassionate to ourselves and trust that there is something inside that will guide us as to what we need and what to do. If you are interested in one to one Focusing sessions with me we can approach this flexibly getting a sense of what your needs are each time. You may want to learn how to guide yourself through the Focusing process or you may want to sit back and be guided through the process. Guided or supported Focusing can help you sense how you are with an issue in your life and how your organism would most fully live towards what is right for you. We can sense together how to work with your dreams or how Focusing may support you in making a decision. I am also very interested in our relational connectedness and would be happy to sense into how our meeting and relating in a Focusing way may support you.

If you’re looking for counselling that has an emphasis on our bodily felt experience or the link between emotion and the body then my approach may fit with you. Focusing can also bring a framework we can draw on for exploring your experience and how you relate to yourself, as well as the opportunity to take away some practical strategies that help to deal with overwhelming feelings.

My background in Focusing

I had come across Gendlin's Focusing book in my early twenties but I rediscovered it in 2007. I took the Focusing Skills Certificate course at the same time as doing my counsellor training and the combination of the two was invaluable. I have been Focusing in partnerships since 2008 and teaching since becoming a Practitioner. Focusing is an essential part of my life and I love to keep learning and practicing. Meeting people who are interested in Focusing is always a joy.
